Double Baby Jogging Strollers – 3 Tips to Buying Tandem Jogging Strollers For Sale

Author: Rachel Adams

For those fitness minded parents who have two children, double baby jogging strollers are a must have baby accessory. Not only are you able to jog through your neighborhood or through a country lane, but you can also take your children with you. Here are the 3 tips to purchasing tandem jogging strollers and what factors to consider to get you started.

1. Be mindful of where you intend to jog

There are certain kinds of strollers that are built for specific roads so where you intend to jog matters a great deal. Front wheels that swivel are best suited for urban environments as they allow for greater maneuverability and fixed front wheels are best for bumpy terrains for better stability. These factors are important as you want to ensure that your baby is comfortable.

2. Take the size into consideration

There are two types of double jogging strollers. Perhaps the most common are the ones where the seats are side by side but this present a problem as it may be difficult to go through grocery store aisle. Another style is the one that have seats in front of one another which may cause a tantrum where the child in the backseat can easily kick or make a fuss for the child in front.

3. Safety features are a must

Once you’ve decided on the style and type of stroller that you will get, you then need to ensure that it has safety features. Strollers with safety harnesses are a must in order to keep the baby firmly in place and padded seats are essential to provide extra comfort. Be sure that the hand brake is in a location for easy access should you need to make quick stops.

Prior to jogging strollers, many parents often found it difficult to get outside of their homes without worrying about their child. Fortunately, these must have baby accessories allow for greater independence and mobility for parents needing their daily exercise.

  1. QUESTION:

Can’t figure out how to fold up a britax forerunner stroller i bought from a baby sale? help please!?
I got this whole britax travel system from a sale and got it all for 35 bucks!!! Good deal right? WRONG. Me and my husband along with everyone else that comes by our house cannot figure out how to fold this damn thing up. I’ve looked for how to’s everywhere and can’t find one and i look up reviews and everyone says that it is a very shitty stroller that takes a lot of time and aggravation to fold. They all return theirs but i can’t. If ANYONE else has this stroller or may know how to collapse it please let me know! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:

i googled it and found this on amazon about folding

“You need two hands to release the locks on either side, plus another to release the seatback, which must be held and folded all the way down. Plus you have to use your entire body to push it down. I was traveling alone with my daughter and this was a HUGE pain and I have to buy another stroller just because of this.”

im sure its not as complicated as this person made it sound though. her whole review sounded whiney. but i hope that how she explained where to push down and everything helps!

  2. QUESTION:

Brand New or Yard Sales For Baby Gear (High Chairs, Strollers, etc.)?
Okay I want to get all new gear for my baby the fisher price 4-in1 Baby System (its a swing, high chair, infant seat and car seat all in one) my mother says it’s a waste of money because I can get all 4 products from yard sales. The way I see it is, the yard sale items could be faulty, many are made w/ metal which could have rusted w/ my baby could put in her mouth. And what if any of that stuff has been re-called. I feel for safety reasons (and not to mention the space I would be saving w/ an all -in-one. The link to it is below please tell me what you think.

    http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2…

    • ANSWER:

There’s nothing wrong with yard sale baby items. If you look it over well and clean it vigorously, it will be fine. The exception is a car seat. Always buy new or, if you accept them used, only accept them from a close friend. If your friend was in an accident you would know it. Sure, it might just be the car seat manufacturers trying to make more money on us, but I prefer to err on the side of safety with that rule! For the other products, it’s remarkably easy to find out if it’s been recalled.

It’s not a car seat, it’s just a seat for around the house. Personally, I would go the yard sale route, but I have three children already. With my first, everything was brand new! It was beautiful and shiny, and she refused to be sat in any of it!

I wouldn’t invest too much before you know how your baby acts. You might have a clingy baby like mine and the fancy seats would all be a waste.

Baby Strollers Car Seats Decorating The Nursery

Author: Gordon Bengston

Just as having your first child is something that will change your life, likewise making up everything for the infant from the initial day of his or her life is a challenge that takes time and energy. At first you might not be able to determine what you intend to do for the child that would be truly unusual. You will probably want a distinct room for the childyoungster, keep them in every luxury possible and decorate the room in such a way that no other youngster will have such a room. I know, that it is your son or daughter and to you nobody is more special than your son or daughter. Consequently it becomes a very unhappy aspect for you when you’re in a circumstance where cash is not that plentiful but you also want to do the best for your son or daughter. For this reason we have come up with the a€œdecorate the baby’s room when your finances are tighta€ plan that will assist you fulfill your needs.

The first matter that you will need to do is select a fashion in which you want to decorate the room. If you are aware of the sex of your child then it is easy enough, nevertheless, if you are expecting some surprise then there are numerous other options to choose from. To decorate the baby’s room when your funds are small you can pick from a wide range of topics for your baby. You can transform the nursery into a forest or a lake or a sun filled meadow even though one of the big consequences that you face is space because you just won’t know what furniture you will need to buy. But I would say: buy only those objects that are wholly necessary for the son or daughter like a bed, a cradle, and a stroller etc., and do not purchase a huge cupboard or objects that the child cannot use.

Ensure that the areas are designed in keeping with the theme that you have chosen for your baby. If you continue in this fashion then you will find that decorating the nursery even with a tiny amount of money can be fascinating. To me, the paint color in the room and the furnishings are the best area and the only one which highlights the ultimate effect.

To add the winding up touch you can incorporate mirrors and lamps, rugs with letters and numbers on them etc., so that along with play your son or daughter can learn early on. Many of these objects are also seen in a sales event so if you look then you will for certain get what you want. The final essential matter that I want to talk about is to get the father of the son or daughter engaged at any cost because he should be part of what feels to be a father. When you can produce a infant then you must recognize how to look after them. Of course it will be a learning experience for him so do take him along and do not trouble yourself about the decoration of the nursery even if your budget is low.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What are some good stores to buy safe, durable baby car seats and strollers?
I know Babies R’ Us and Target but they don’t have anything worth looking at. In addition to baby car seats and strollers, it can also be stores that sell baby play yards and etc.
No online websites. I need real stores I can actually go to

    • ANSWER:
I’ve always trusted Walmart when it came to my children’s supplies. I have a 2 and a half year old and I have purchased his car seats and strollers there. I wasn’t too crazy about the last stroller, but I went over to Babies r us / Toys r us and was able to buy him a really nice stroller for a little over a 100 dollars. The company that made it is Jeep. It is soo much better than the other strollers. It’s a three wheeler, but the easiest to push around and my son is comfortable. That is what counts to me. But everything else, I bought it at Walmart. You can’t really beat the prices, and its good!

  2. QUESTION:
What name brand is the best for baby car seats/strollers?
i would like to know what you think is the best name brand car seat/stroller, list a few from best to cheap. where does Graco and Safety1st fit into this category (i live in Canada if that makes a difference) im 30 weeks pregnant and im goin to buy a duo stroller and i want to know what a good name brand is. Thanks for the help :)

    • ANSWER:
Safety wise, Chicco is the best in infant car seats, it’s constantly tested higher than any other brand. Britax for convertible-booster car seats.

But the problem with pointing out name brands is that they are constantly in competition with one another. For instance, the Graco-65 is rear-facing for 40lbs, then forward facing for 65lbs in an H harness with EPS foam and side-impact safety. The Safety First brand has released one with head-airbags for side impacts. Britax recently released airbags on the outside of the car seat, so that passengers next to the car seat are less likely to hit their head on the seat as well as it helps stop some side-impact forces so that the seat is safer. I mean, these things are constantly being developed and it’s no one name brand that does the best job overall (though Britax and Chicco consistently test highest in safety.)

For the most part, the rule of thumb with car seats is to look for trends. Infant carrier handles have had so many recalls that even if the car seat you get doesn’t have a recall you need to strap the baby in ‘just in case’. Infant bases have failed in side-impact, and while that may be fixed now, it’s something to keep in mind in use. There’s also issues in leaving a baby in a car seat anyway to sleep, so putting the baby in a sling seems safer than ever leaving a baby to sleep in the car seat. Once above a certain age/weight, the longer they can face backwards the better, so the Graco-65 with the back facing to 40lbs is safer than a Britax with a back facing to 35 in that aspect (I expect Britax to increase their rear-facing weight soon though.) EPS is almost a must-have these days in a good car seat, but some have more than others and the only way you can find out which ones have the best is to do research on it.

As for strollers… I tried the Graco combination with daughter and honestly… the stroller stinks for the area I live in. We live in a very mountainy area, and going to a park requires going up and down hills as well as crossing areas with no side-walks, so we’re talking off-road and the Graco was a big fail, especially once she was out of the car seat and in the normal lap-belt. In a store, the stroller also was a pain in the neck to turn and maneuver. My doctor actually said she got a good off-road jogging stroller and never looked back. I took her advice and tried one out and it worked so much better. I love the H harness on it, we’ve never had any of the scary incidents like we did with the Graco, and it does work for newborns (it says so on there) but I plan on using a carrier most of the time with the newborn. So again, it depends on where you live and your needs. Where I live, the large wheels (bicycle wheels on mine so that they’re replaceable and fixable) work so much better, and I’d look for a combo that has that rather than ever try the small wheels again. However, I have friends in bigger cities who prefer the smaller wheels.

Add: Not entirely. Some of the Britax only go to 32lbs. In America where so far there isn’t a weight limit mandated by the government like in Canada, you can keep your child facing backwards to 40lbs (and yes… there are plenty of children who fit the car seats until 40lbs and don’t outgrow them height wise. I’ll include a video.) But since the poster is in Canada, I suppose it doesn’t matter as much except when it comes to the H harness in the forward position. Chicco still tests higher when it comes to infant car seats than Britax, though Britax has an actual crash bar which is interesting. And infant car seats are safer until at least 6 months I’m finding. Once they are about toddler age and facing forward, I like Britax when you have the money for it.

Now… personally since money is a consideration and we’re having another one ourselves, we’ve decided to go with the Baby Trend Rigid lock. They’ve recently had a recall having to do with the bases and side-impact, but otherwise they’ve always tested high in safety ratings, and are quite low on cost. They ARE heavy though, but since we don’t plan on taking it in and out of the car (safety issues with leaving an infant in a car seat for long and we don’t plan on using the base) it’s not much of an issue. If it IS, we have a great jogger stroller from them that it will fit on (and unlike the Gracco stroller, this one fits in my trunk, is lightweight, and a DREAM to push. I also like that if you close the car seat’s hood and the stroller’s hood it completely covers the baby, protecting from rain, snow, sun, wind and dust storms which do happen where I live. :P I can see using that at the zoo, but most of the time baby will be in an Ergo-baby-carrier. I’ll include a link to what I’m talking about as far as the travel system. I like the bigger wheels, we live in a mountainy area and going to a park requires going off road so having them be bike wheels (instead of plastic) has made it so much easier. I’ll never go back to a ‘normal’ stroller again.

  3. QUESTION:
What is the difference between all the different baby strollers and car seats?
I know a lot of people are using the convertible units (even though I don’t really know what they are)? I know I can purchase the stroller and car seat apart – but can I purchase them together – do they detatch and hook into one another? Are they worth buying? I am confused about all the different options. Please help.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, they hook into each other such as this:

      http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/9f/d/AAAAAra-PF0AAAAAAJ_exA.jpg

There are infant carseat (like the one pictured) and convertible carseats like this one:

      http://www.gracoinfantcarseatreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Britax-Decathlon-Convertible-Car-Seat.jpg

Convertible carseats are more upright and are bigger. Whereas infant carseats are smaller and made more for newborns/infants who don’t yet have neck or back support. Convertible carseats can be used for infants, but normally are used for toddlers about 1+ years.

Travel systems (the stroller and carseat together) are very handy. They offer more support for an infant and allow the baby to face you. Not to mention, they are normally cheaper than buying both items separate.

  4. QUESTION:
Travel systems, car seats, and baby strollers?
I am confused regarding whether I should get a travel system or a separate car seat and baby stroller.
What age span are travel systems designed for?
What will be cheaper and more practical in the long run?

I don’t think I’ll be needing the stroller at all (or that often) until the baby is at least 4 months old…

    What would you recommend?

    • ANSWER:
I absolutely love our Graco travel system! We used the car seat up until she was 7 1/2 months and have used the stroller since birth and use it a lot more often than I ever thought that we would! :-)

  5. QUESTION:
Can baby strollers and or car seats be taken on a plane when traveling?

    • ANSWER:
Baby strollers can be taken all of the way to the gate, so your baby can stay in it. You will have to take the child out of the stroller when you go through security, fold it up yourself while trying to hold your child (occasionally a nice bystander will help) and take care of yourself at the same time.

Right when you get to the plane you take the child out and an attendant will tag it for you and they were have it at the ready right when you land. Car seats are allowed on planes but of course you then have to buy a ticket for the seat. If the child is under two then you don’t have to buy a ticket, at least usually, and the child can be held in your lap, which is where they want to be anyway. If you child is still an infant I recommend nursing the child or giving it a bottle or sippy cup so as to keep the ear popping down at take off and landing. If they are old enough, give them gum.

If you have the money to, there is a nifty thing I have seen that is a stroller that folds down to a carseat for on the plane, it is expensive though. Oh, and you should not be charged for checking a carseat with your luggage, but it might have changed in the last few months, they are charging for everything lately.

      Good luck!
